Roberto Lara

Lyrichord: LYRCD 7253

Here Roberto Lara performs a complete album of the music of the Argentinean  guitarist / composer Abel Fleury, a name which may be completely new to many of you .He was a man who lived til the middle of the 20th Century and who wrote completely in his own country’s folk/popular style, as this album shows.

All the music here is largely in one particular style in the sense that here is not a huge amount of variety in the actual pieces here, but they are nevertheless very pleasant and beautifully and cleanly played by Lara.As you can see there a number of Milongas, a few Estilos, and one or two other sorts of pieces too, but they do mostly have a similar sound to them, which may be a great advantage to some and a little bit off putting to others.

The tracks are often quite short, the greater number less than 3 minutes each, and are all full of the Argentinean rhythms and harmonies that may all know. As a result everything is exceptional in its detail, for Lara is a great player, who makes a fine job of these pleasant, melodic and very rhythmic pieces.

Therefore if you like your music in this style, you will find the CD nicely played, wonderfully clear in its recordings and a lot of fun to listen to.
