Les Productions D’Oz: Score and separate parts: (12, 3, 3, 4, and 3 pages respectively)
This prolific Swiss composer has written hundreds of works for our beloved instrument and this latest piece for guitar quartet is lots of fun to play and ( as you might expect) very Spanish in its idiom.
Part of a series called Flamenco Inspiration; this little four minute work is ideally for intermediate players only. The third part consists very largely of rasgueado accompaniment while the other three parts are single note throughout with the fourth part staying in the bass region for the duration. It veers between A Minor and A Major, changing 3 times from one to the other with parts one and two providing the melodic material.
Nothing is too difficult and I could see a moderately competent quartet having a lot of fun with this work, especially if the other pieces in this series are as good, and therefore could be linked into a suite when being performed.
