Duo Catanza : Concerto in D , RV 93 : CD Single

Updated: Aug 10, 2021

VIVALDI: Concerto in D, RV 93

Duo Catanza:

This is the second CD single I have received from the Duo Catanza otherwise Scott Plato and Matthias Young. This one is entirely made up of the one three – movement work and plays for a few seconds over 12 minutes. Instantly this recording is much brighter and more immediate than the other one, and will be a work known to many people if not necessarily on two guitars, although it has been played and recorded in this way before, and of course was originally written for Lute two violins and continuo. After the opening Allegro is superbly played by the duo, the famous slow movement Largo, that is the real meat and veg of the concerto sounds very apt and the emotive music is wonderfully captured by the two players. The final Allegro is equally satisfying and the arrangement is very nicely done sounding perfectly natural on two guitars.

Altogether this is a nice recording, finely played of a piece that many people will know and as such I can recommend this CD single as something that many people will really enjoy.
