Carlo Corrieri and Magdalena Kaltcheva (CARisMA Guitar Duo) with Concerto Sacro conducted by Ingmar Beck.

Digital Download

Italian Carlo Corrieri, and Bulgarian Magdalena Kaltcheva , previously successful soloists decided to join their incredible talents together to form CARisMA , and as a result  have produced some of the most remarkable performances of guitar music you are ever likely to hear.

Many of the pieces here will be known to many of you but what is very surprising is the technical and very musical manner in which they play some of the fastest sections of some of these pieces. Take just as one example the fact that they have arranged the entire 3 movements of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata including the furiously fast final movement, the Presto Agitato. Having myself arranged many works for guitar duo, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that this could be played on two guitars, but it has been, and it really is something to hear, like many of the arrangements here which simply fly off the fingerboard without any apparent effort.

Of course we do have some slow pieces too, for example the lovely one of Myers’ Cavatina, and Karl Jenkins Palladio movement, and moreover there are a couple that are perhaps not so well known that will tickle your ears somewhat, including the players’ own piece, the final track Fractal, which is a fine conclusion to what is a fabulous album, of great pieces, arranged and played second to none, and moreover, recorded really well too. So if this is tickling your listening buds, just give these fantastic players a try!
