Capozza is an Italian guitarist who plays, arranges, consults about music, and is a session player too. His albums prior to this are all home spun , and he sometimes plays duets, trios, and quartets too. Not only that he plays in many different styles, from jazz, to blues, to bossa nova, and then finally to classical .This latest alb um is very much in the jazz style for a great deal of the time.

Immediately you notice that there are a number of percussive accompaniments, usually tambourine, or other such ‘shaker’ instruments, which I can only assume he tracks himself. The occasional piano part is there too.

All the pieces are his own compositions, and so they will probably be completely new to you, as they were to me. As a result they don’t instantly hit you, especially as for a large part of the time, it almost seems as if he is ad- libbing and therefore, the music is much more dependent on rhythm and other musical elements rather than a melody that strikes you. There are exceptions to that , for example My Romance which begins with a definite melody but, being jazz in style it instantly gets varied, which you might love, and others of you might find it a little off – putting.

It is no doubt that he is a wonderful player and the recording is very clear and close to the listener, and if a jazzy classical style is what turns you on, then this man’s performances will be right up your street.
